Egypt’s Former President, Hosni Mubarak Setenced to Life in Prison

Hosni Mubarak in court
Hosni Mubarak, 84 years old, former President of Egypt  was found guilty of corruption, misappropriation of funds and issuing the order to kill the protesters during the popular uprising that saw him out of power.

The presiding judge Ahmed Refaat also sentenced his interior minister, Habib el-adli, to life imprisonment on the same charge, while his close advisers were acquitted.

Mubarak appeared in court in a wheel chair for the verdict on his trial on charges of corruption, misuse of funds and conspiracy during the popluar uprising that ended his 30 years rule.

His two sons, Alaa and Gamal were acquitted. The acquittal of the two sons angered those present in the court as they went into protest.. The courtroom practically errupted immediately their acqusition was read.

Hosni Mubarak is the first Arab leader to be put on trial by his  own people. The Judgement of the 84 years old was greeted with mixed feelings. Verdict was greeted by cheering crowds outside the courthouse.

This is the continuation of Arab Spring if you like.
