Dione Warwick,
Whitney Houston's cousin has filed for bankruptcy in New Jersey.
According to
court documents she claimed she only has $25.000 worth of assets and owed $10.2
in taxes and fees to IRS and the state of California.
Dione's
representative Kevin Sasaki blamed the financial debacle on the “negligent and gross financial mismanagement" in the late 1980s
through mid-1990s.
The 72-year-old also claims she earns only $1,000 monthly from music
royalties. But spends $5,000 monthly in housekeeping and $4,000 on a personal
assistant.
The 5-time grammy winner's representative explains further "In light
of the magnitude of her tax liabilities, Warwick has repeatedly attempted to
offer re-payment plans and proposals to the IRS and the California Franchise
Tax Board for taxes owed. These plans were not accepted, resulting in
escalating interest and penalties."
