Robert De Niro: On Sustainable African Cinema

Robert De Niro
US star actor, Robert De Niro speaking at the New York Forum Africa in Libreville, Gabon said that stability and adequate funding are needed for a sustainable cinema in Africa.

“First … people have to know (a government is) going to last, that they can come back

The Oscar- winning actor pointed out “The money has to be there,”

Adding “You have to have enough money to hire the right people to know what to do as far as building studios, technicians, creative people to start coming up with stories,”

“Then you have to create the material, stories. What stories come out from the region that are famous, classic stories, what stories … can be done in such a way that they appeal to other countries, the continent and then worldwide.”

The New York Forum Africa held last weekend in Gabon was for development issues across Africa. The forum was attended by business executives and politicians from around the world.

Thank you for visiting my blog. My name is Rita. I am a quiet, thoughtful, very creative, focused, convergent thinker and opinionated person. I believe it is never too late to achieve a purpose. I hear people still say knowledge is power but I can assure you that in today’s world more knowledge is power. I am not ashamed to fall and rise again, for it is never over until it is over. This blog is to me another vehicle of expression. I invite you to ride with me. I am pleased to have you share my world. My world, your world. Contact me ladyposhs@gmail.com
