A tribute concert will held in March 7th at
Carnegie Hall in New York City to
celebrate Prince.
The show will feeature performers like Stax
innovator T. Jones, Funkrockers Living Colour, gospel group Blind Boys of Alabama,
rapper Talib kweli, indie rockers Devotchka, jazz singer-songwriter, Madeleine
Peyroux, folk-rockers the Wwterboys, and Hiphop band as the house band. Many
more performers will be announced in the following weeks to honour Prince.
The concert is headed by Michael Dorf. The
proceeds form the tribute concert like in the past will be donated to music
education programmes for the underpreviliedged youth.
This year’s proceeds will benefit Fixing
instruments for Kids in Schools (FIX), Church Street School for Music and Art,
The American Symphony Orchestra, Young Audiences Newyork, The Center for Arts
Education and Little Kids Rock.
The tribute concert has raised more than $700.000
over the years. This year’s concert will the 9th in the series.
