Mr Jude Agbaso |
The Imo state House of Assembly in Eastern
Nigeria has impeached the deputy governor of the state, Mr Jude Agbaso.
26 members of the House voted in support of the
impeachment. Mr Agbaso had earlier failed in an attempt to stop the proceeding
as the judicial panel investigating the ₦458 million bribery allegation
dismissed his request to stop the impeachment process.
Mr Agbaso in a letter to the panel claimed he
was not served any summon on the impeachment process and informed the panel he
had instituted two law suits at the Imo state high court on the said
impeachment proceeding against him.
Agbaso was accused of demanding and collecting a
₦458 million bribe from J-Bros Limited, a construction company handling the
rehabilitation of Sam Mbakwe road in Owerri .
It seems the impeachment is conclusive as a new
deputy has been appointed in the person of Prince Eze Madumere, the present chief of staff to the governor.
My questions to the ex-deputy governor are as follows: If you were not served a summon, why did you institute two law suits at the Imo state high court.
But then would it have made any difference even if you were served a summon?
It looks like this J-Bros (gate) plot was hatched and concluded
long before now. You were not prepared for it.
I must mention you did badly in
your Embezzlment 101 course. Nigerian politicians are usually exceptionally
good at this general education course for politicians in that oil rich country.
To the Imo State House of Assembly
Imo State citizens are watching
and waiting to see if this fight against corruption is continuing. I'm afraid to suggest that Mr Agbaso was gotten rid of because he might have stepped on somebody's toes or, and refused to share the filthy money.
I hope his guilt was proven beyond all reasonable doubt.
