Bianca Ojukwu confirmed as an ambassador

The senate confirmed the nomination of Mrs Bianca Ojukwu as an ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on wednesday, May 9.

She was confirmed by the Senate after consideration of the report submitted to it by the Senate committee on Foreign Affairs which recommended her confirmation.

The Chairman of the Committee, Senator Matthew Nwagwu (Imo State) read the report of the committee at a plenary in Abuja titled: "The Senate do consider the report of the committee on Foreign Affairs on the screening of Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu for appointment as an Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and approved the recommendation therein"

Sources said she could be made a 'special Ambassador' attached to the office of the president.


She was unable to attend the screening of 85 ambassadorial nominee because of the death of her husband.

I congratulate Mrs Ojukwu for her nomination. But why are they in such a hurry to give her this position. I think she should have been allowed to mourn her husband. I wonder how her family members and advisers view this.

This is Odumegwu Ojukwu's wife. He deserves more respect. She would have taken time off and come back in style and dignity.

If she could not attend the screening beause of her husband's death, how do they expect her to be in a good emotional composure to do the job.
