Rashidi Yekini is Dead


 Rashidi Yekini died on May 4, 2012 at about 9:35PM. He was buried today May 5, 2012 in his home town Irra, Offa in Kwara State according to muslim rights.

Several sympathiser were present at the burial ceremony including Oyo state comissioner of Sports, Dapo Lam Adesina, Mutiu Adepoju, Dimeji Lawal, Ajibade Babalade and other dignitaries.

Yekini was born in Kaduna October 23, 1964. He played in Nigeria Premier League (NPL) before moving to Ivory Coast where he played for Africa Sports Football Club.

He later played for Vicktoria Setubal of Portugal. He was the African Footballer of the year, 1993. He played for Nigeria national team, The Super Eagles. He scored a total of 37 goals in 58 games.

May his soul rest in peace
