Fighting Breaks Out Near Liberia’s Border With Cote d’Ivoire

Fighting has broken out between Ivorian government forces and the country’s rebels in Grand Gedeh County near the border with Liberia.

According to the Ivorians fleeing their country into Liberia, the rebels seemed to large in number.

Villagers reported heavy gunfire and inability to move around. They are trapped in their homes.

A resident of Dabou told APF by telephone “Since yesterday at 2300 (GMT and local time) we have been able to hear very heavy firing as if there has been fighting between two camps. It has continued this morning, no-one can go out, we are holed up in our homes,"
The fighting started on Monday.
