Nigerian Footballer Dies During a Match

Henry Chinonso Ihelewere
A Nigerian footballer Henry Chinonso Ihelewere with the CS Delta Tulcea, Romania, a second division club died yesterday (Sunday) on the pitch.

The incident occurred while his club was playing against FC Balotesti. He collapsed 15 minutes after he entered the pitch. An ambulance was immediately called. However, all attempt made by the medical team to resuscitated him for almost an hour proved abortive. They could only confirm his death. The cause of death is not yet known.

Earlier this year Fabrice Muamba a midfielder for Bolton Wanderers in UK collapsed on the football in the middle of the field in a match against Tottenham. It took the medical team 78 minutes to resuscitate him and he spent over a month at the London Chest Hospital.

A soul gone too soon. Brother, may your soul rest in.
