Late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu |
From
the look of things the way Ikemba shared his properties did not go down well with the family members as the
will favoured Ojukwu’s widow, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu and her children.
The
will which was expected to have brought peace to the family that is already
bickering over Ojukwu Transport Limited, a company left behind by late Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu’ the patriach of the family since Dim’s demise November 26,
is instead tearing the family further apart.
The majority of Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu’s clan have rejected the will which was read at the High Court by the Chief Registrar, Enugu Judiciary and Probate, Mr Dennis Ekoh. Ojukwu jnr on behalf of the family said it was a fake.
The will was regarded as fake because members of Ojukwu family were not present at the readng of the will. Ojukwu jnr claimed Bianca visited Nnewi last Sunday when the family removed the mourning cloth, but did not inform or invite family members.
He also pointed out that the lawyer, Mr. Onyemelukwe is not their father’s lawyer and as such cannot act on his behalf.
The will has some surprises as Sylvester Ojukwu known as Dede was conspicuously missing from the list of children endorsed by Ojukwu himself. The will revealed an unknown daughter, Tenny Harman.
Those listed as his children are Tenny Harman, Emeka Ojukwu, Mmegha, Okigbo, Ebele, Chineme, Afam and Nwachukwu.
Besides, the deceased stated that only those listed as his children in the Will, and no other person, should be regarded as his children.
Apart from that, Emeka Ojukwu (Jnr.) only got a property in Nnewi, Ojukwu's hometown in Anambra State.
Bianca, the late Igwe of Oraukwu, Emeka Ojukwu and James Chukwuneme are listed as trustees and executors of the Will.
Below are reactions to the will by Ojukwu's clan.
